Programming your new Thomson TiVo Remote
The Thomson remote is nearly identical to the first version of US
TiVo remotes (Series 1) and will control virtually every TiVo made
without any programming. The exception to this is the Sony TiVo’s
(series 1 & 2) and the Toshiba SD-H400, these TiVo’s use entirely
different remotes and codes.
As an early European version remote, these do not have an info or
input button. You’ll also notice there does not seem to be a “TV
Power” button. On the Thomson TiVo Remote, the Standby button is
used in place of the TV Power button found on US TiVo remotes. The
AUX and VCR buttons do nothing on US systems.
To program your remote to control your TV, perform the following
steps:
-
Hold down the TiVo and Standby buttons simultaneously until the
red light on the remote control remains on.
-
Enter a 4-digit code from the code list on the back of this
sheet. *Note – the codes listed on your TiVo probably will not
work.
-
Test the “Standby” button to see if it turns your TV on and off.
-
If it doesn’t work, repeat steps 1 to 3 with the next remote
code. *Note – Sometimes you’ll find a code that turns the TV
power on and off, but the volume does not work as expected. In
this case, try another code from the list until you find one
that work correctly.
If none of the listed remote codes work or your TV model is not
listed, you may need to perform a code search:
-
Hold down the TiVo and Standby buttons simultaneously until the
red light on the remote control remains on.
-
The red light on the remote will illuminate until the code
search is complete.
-
Enter code 0999.
-
Use the channel up button to scroll through the codes. Don't go
too fast or you could miss it. When the TV turns off, hit the
enter key; that sets the code.
If
you cycle through all the codes, the red LED will go off, indicating
that you have tried all the codes.
A-
As long as yours is not a
Toshiba model SD-H400, this will control most functions on you TiVo.
It does not have any DVD specific buttons but those functions can be
controlled from the menus.
Q-Will these work with a dual tuner TiVo?
A-
We've tested these remotes
on dual tuner units and usually pressing the "Live TV/Guide" button
once gets you to the guide or the info screen. Pressing it a second
time will swap the screens between these two. When on the info
screen, on the right side, if you scroll down once, you can swap the
tuners. Sometimes, it is necessary to go to the main TiVo menu
first, scroll down to "Live TV" and press select. This should only
be needed once and the "Live TV/Guide" button will work as described
above.
